Campy, This is just SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Lazywriter

Seen this before, but just thought of it again. This is simply ridiculous and only a Campy fan woiuld do this. I am especially talking about the bikg green one. What a tool.

You're rightpurplepaul
May 9, 2003 9:39 AM
Only a Campy fan would do that. Campy connotes a romance with cycling history. Shimano, OTOH, connotes a factory somewhere in Japan.

I don't think you're a troll. I just wonder why you fault Campy lovers.
Campy = history, culture, romanceeschelon

Shimano = new, current, tech, stoic.......sounds just like the the Harley vs Rice Burners.
Once again, irony strikes!Rich_Racer

The sadness of this guy's tatoos is only matched by the sadness of your inexplicable campaign against anyone who like campy! Please stop. You're very boring.
Get a Shimano tattoo and show the world you love fishing. nmdzrider

- not that you aren't probably right about the message that would send, but can you find a pic of a Shimano tattoo that isn't "photoshopped" ? One proudly posted? Without a hint of irony?
i've seen a lot worse tattoos than just thatclimbo
May 9, 2003 9:58 AM
who cares I say, people tattoo all sorts of things on their bodies, this is pretty mild in comparision. I think it's pretty cool, does anybody have a Shimano one? probably not, they might get mistaken for a fisherman.

If you cannot see how ridiculous that is, then I am at a loss for words. The reason why Campy has "history, heritage, etc", is the fact that there really wasn't any alternatives back then. Shimano has won the TDF 4 times in a row, but it has no "soul". LMAO, you guys are laughable.

well, you have a point there.

He does?
I always thought LA won the Tour 4 times - not Shimano. Are you suggesting that he'd have lost riding Record? Or a non-Trek. That's laughable. No one disputes that Shimano DA is a good gruppo. What I don't understand is this idiot's fascination with other people's legitimate and informed choices and why they are somehow illegitimate b/c they differ from his.

LOL. Point was that Shimano is building its own race winning heritage. Why are people so crazy about this topic???? I view my Shimano just a groupo that I prefer, not some entitiy that exudes racing history, class, pinache and all the other crap you guys ascribe to Campy stuff. Maniacs

Perhaps you should read your own posts before you submit them and decide who should call whom crazy. I may be "Captain Obvious", but I'm not "lazywriter."
Damn trolls.

a lot of people are Campy snobs (guiltily raises hand). Campy is said to have "soul", as Lazywriter puts it. Campy Record is also very flashy (carbon here, carbon there, and in the electronic version, carbon everywhere). what Lazy seems to be derisive about is that Campy has "soul" and Shimano doesn't, despite the fact that Record and DA perform on par with each other.
I think some people rag on him just to rag on him. I'll stay out of that, mostly, but I think what he said about the above is quite right.
If you were at a loss for words, why couldn't you stop? nmdzrider

4 in a row.... 24 straight losses prior to that....russw19
May 9, 2003 11:56 AM
I am still trying to stay out of this debate as to which is better because I ride bikes that have both, but.....

Let's get facts straight when posted....

Prior to 1999, Campy has won every Tour since the 1950's. Shimano put out thier 25th Aniversary Dura-Ace group in what??? 1999? 2000? I don't exactly remember, but they built Dura-Ace to match up against Campy from day 1. It took 25 years to catch up.... argue that one if you like, I don't care, but get it straight.

And this is getting old fast....

ok, you have an opinion. Great, I'm just saying it's a fine thing to have tattoed on your leg. What your saying is that there are "your" rules for what you can and cannot tattoo because it may be ridiculous. That's a very subjective world to live in if you ask me.

Have you seen those prison shows where all the inmates have massive Jesus tattoos on their back? I think that's pretty ridiculous but I don't care that much to post about it.

What about tats of a naked girl? a Chevy car? Tigers? That's also pretty ridiculous in my book but it doesn't stop thousands of people thinking it's cool.
Campy tattoo? Only if...Fender

Campy sponsored me with some big bucks.. or at new Record Carbon group.

As far as the debate Shimano Vs Campy debate goes, it all works the same. I use Shimano bascause it's cheaper and more widely available. As far as performance, they both have there pro's and cons. Shimano STI levers rattle, while Campy record chains break at the pro-link (or however it's called).

Finally, if I ever own a euro bike I would spec it with Campy just for the cool "euro pro look".

Some questionsSpoiler
May 9, 2003 12:14 PM
Question 1: I'll quote you- "Why are people so crazy about this topic????"

Question 2: What are you doing browsing the campyonly.com site?

I believe if you answer question 2, you will find the answer to question 1.

I remembered seeing that tattoo a long time ago on the Capmy site that I had stumbled across by accident. You still won't convince me that you guys aren't crazy. Look at allthe reponses this gets. They are COMPONENTS, nothing more.
Oh Mr. Lazy, I hate to bother you, but there's just one thingSpoiler

It's the darndest thing, it might turn out to be nothing, but I just can get it out of my head ya see, it's in my notes here somewhere...now where did I put that...cleaner bill, gotta pay that....oh yeah, here we go....
How do you stumble across a site by accident? How many sites have you stumbled across on purpose? You see in a troll investigation, the first suspect is always the first person on the crime scene, and that's you.
Oh well, it's probaby nothing, but I had to ask. Have a good day sir.

From webopaedia:

Troll

(v.) (1) To deliberately post derogatory or inflammatory comments to a community forum, chat room, newsgroup and/or a blog in order to bait other users into responding.

BTW, does anyone know of a way to utilize a killfile on this forum?

but I think I have a point in posting that anyone who puts that large a tattoo on them of a comany's insignia, hadn't thought it out too well. I am not saying that tattoos are bad, and my girlfriend has a couple, but they get old and shi$$y and over time, boring. That tattoo of Campy is huge and ridiculous but I am well aware that was his choice. I can see putting you dead family members name, but a COMPANY???????? Just to show you like cycling. Ridiculous.
