I am new to road riding and just kinda curious, what sorta pace do the Cat 4/5 guys run out at the picnic loop.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure, but you don't have to ride with them...you can ride at your own pace.

There was a crit there last Friday. I didn't ride it since I had to pick my wife up at the airport. But I did stop by to watch some. The 4/5 field near the end was pulling laps at a 2:48 or so pace (1.17 mile loop) which comes to a shade over 25 mph. The start of the 1/2/3 race had the lead guys pulling 2:30 laps, though I imagine they didn't keep it up the entire time. Don't be too worried about the speed though. I was out there the other night just riding and the surface is pretty quick, especially since you're protected by the wind pretty well. Was maintaining a 22-23 mph solo pace for over an hour. If you can do 20-21 mph solo you should be able to hang in the pack.
