Can anybody give me some information on riding in Poughkeepsie. I am a newbie here. Specific routes would be very helpful Here are rides I would like to do
1> 1+ hr road ride during lunch time from the IBM area (prefer no cars on that :))
2> Mtn. Biking around the neihbourhood (next to Vasser College)
I do not own a car, so it makes it a bit harder. Thanks a ton.

|Sorry to be so negative, but I grew up near there (Fishkill) and the riding is tough in the Poughkeepsie-Wappingers-Fishkill corridor along rte 9. The roads are bad and theres alot of traffic. The good news is that there are great rides not far away, but you need a car. Check out this website for Hudson Valley rides- its a great site.
If you can find transportation, the Hudson Valley can be a beautiful place to explore on a bike- good luck.

|about 10 miles from the Poughkeepsie train station is New Paltz-absolutely awesome bike riding (road and mtn.) in that area.
As a matter of fact we'll be having a group ride this Saturday over there.
