The IPP just added a new map. It only incorporates long distance trails and not small parks, so it doesn't include spots like Palos, Danada or Knock Knoll, but it covers a bunch of miles!!! Check it out:
Oh, make sure to save the map to your HDKristin

Wow! You could conceivably ride trails all the way out to Galena from here in the western 'burbs! What a trip that would be! Thanks K!
How long do you think the outter loop is?Kristin

My guess would be around 1000 miles. I was talking with a racer friend at the office who thinks that these don't all connect as conveniently as the map makes it look. But perhaps someone is designing a multi-day tour for Northern IL.
Sweet, thanks Kristin.Alex-in-Evanston

The home page is

I've talked to people who have ridden it all and helped develop the cue sheets. It can be ridden, but it is a long way from done.

LIB and IL Dept of Natural Resources are having a multi-day ride (6/15-6/21) incorporating parts of the trail and IL state parks. It's called GITAP (Grand Illinois Trail and Parks). See
