|Just before I get to the office there's a relatively short hill with about a 300' vertical climb. This morning as I started my ascent up this hill along with about a half dozen other riders, I noticed one rider pulling away. Not one to ignore a bit of challenge, I began to close the gap. As I accelerated and started passing the rest of the riders, it became apparent that the rider in front was actually creating a bigger gap. At the same time I noticed that she was on a mountain bike with big square 5 gallon buckets for panniers and, if you know what I mean, didn't exactly fit the bill for a "fast" biker. I'm thinking "what's up with this?". OK so now it's time to do something about it and I crank up the speed a bit and more slowly than I would like, finally begin to close the gap. As I draw near, I hear a whirring noise up ahead. I take a closer look at the girl's bike and I'll be damned; she's got a motorized hub of some sort and the 5 gallon buckets are batteries. Sure had me goin'
