I just started using Endurox R4 (orange flavour) this weekend. OMG it tastes like s**t! Will I get used to this?! Is this a comman finding and/or are the other flavours better?!

yours,

Rich.
The pink stuff sucks too and I never got used to it. nmdzrider

just get Accelerade orange... it's the best tasting energy drink on the market IMO. (but the lime flavor kinda sucks)

It's the consistiency, not the taste which I don't like. Probably the protein fraction is insoluble. BUT, it makes a difference. I can go 6 days on (2-3 VO2, 1 distance ride, 1-2 intervals and one easy) and one off. If I skip, I am really too tired to keep that schedule.

If Special High Intensity Training is your goal, it's worth tthe money and gag reflex.

I have to say, in the couple of days I have tried it, I have noticed a difference in recovery time and performance the next day. It's just that, as you suggested, I've also noticed a willingness to gag!

Moneywise - it was a 1/3 off at performance last week.

Does Accelerade have the same ingredients as endurox?

No, Accelerade is less Protein / higher carb = more energy. More soluble; less gagging. I went with Cytomax this year and want the Accelerade back. Protein seems to even out the carbo boost and gives longer term energy. My race on Sunday, I seemed to keep reaching for the bottle and felt on the edge of bonk. Never had that before the switch.

So how does cytomax compare, ingredients-wise? I assume you feel it works less well than accelerade and endurox?

You know how the best part of a bowl of Trix or Fruity Pebbles is the fruity tasting milk left when all the cereal is gone? That's what Endurox fruit punch tastes like.

Come on, it doesnt taste that good. I can't sip the stuff. I chug the whole glass. Taste of Endurox you have to get used to but the stuff works good after a hard work out.

For me, I wouldn't clean car parts in the Fruit Punch...it is the definition of NASTY. I'm a dedicated Orange drinker. I use it AFTER the ride, and stick it in the 'fridge to get it good and cold.

With Accellerade, the Lime is pretty good, in my opinion.
I don't mind itRay Sachs

The orange has never bothered me, but if you hate it that much to begin with, I doubt it'll grow on you. I just mix it in a water bottle about half full with really cold water and 2-3 ice cubes. Then when I shake it really hard, the ice cubes bust up the clumps pretty well and I don't have more than a little bit of residue left at the bottom of the bottle. Keeping it really cold blunts the taste somewhat I guess.

The stuff really does seem to work. Maybe its all placebo, but I feel a LOT better on consecutive rides if I use it after riding.

I mix the Fruit Punch w/ GatoradeSerottaGrl

ok, i use this probably differently than most - i run a mix of about 50/50 (um, maybe 40/60) of fruit punch Endurox with either fruit punch or lemon lime Gatorade. but i'm not using this exclusively as recovery - i run this mix on the bike.

bonus: if you refill on the road with some bottled fruit punch Gatorade you come up with a concoction that tastes a whole lot like Hawiian Punch!!! :-)
