|Below is a link to my local newspaper here in South Florida.
A young girl was killed during the MS-150 this past weekend. She was evidently hit by a drunk driver while waiting for her father at an intersection.
I did not know her, but I remember seeing her and her father in the parking lot at many of my club's rides. I did not do the MS-150, but I saw this on the news last night, and thought this would be a good place to post the story.
Everyone be careful out there.

|That is so sad. The driver should be locked away and the key thrown into the ocean.|

|...and speeding through a charity bike ride. What a combo.
My heart goes out to the family -- she sounds like she was a special young woman.

|Unfortunately this happened in Florida. The son of a b**** won't spend a day in jail.|

|This will almost bring a person to tears. This young lady is dead and the drunk that killed her is out on the street, drunk again probably, almost before her dad can get home. I wonder if lynching could become popular again?|

|The father was right there and witnessed it. I don't think I could have restrained myself from bludgening the driver to death right then and there, consequences be damned.
Sometimes the world just sucks.

|As horrible as the incident sounds, I'm sure the last thing the father was thinking about was going after the drunk. I'm sure he was tending to his injured daughter.
This whole episode makes me sick. I have a ten year old daughter who loves to ride her bike. I would love to take her on an MS 150 becuase it is an easy and sociable event. I just cannot imagine the horror the father felt as he saw this event unfold in front of his eyes.
Sorry, this one hits too close to home with me. There is no punishment too severe for the drunk.
