Not overly light, but strong! I weigh 230-240 and have a set on Ultegra hubs. Can't bust 'em. I almost never have to rtue these; they don't move. Colorado cyclist builds on any hub you like. My MTB wheels are Velocity on XT hubs. Unbelievably strong. Don't know about the racing sets availabel as pre-builts; they seem lighter, but I haven't tried them. If you could afford Velocity as training wheels and another pair of light weights for racing?

I've used the Velocity Spartacus wheels for training for the past year. I weighed 237 last year when I got them and I'm 210 now, the wheels have had no problems with my big a$$. They are virtually undestructable. I have had absolutely no problems with them. They have really smooth hubs too.

Mariowannabe,

Yes. Dave Thomas of Speed Dream Wheels builds with them. He built me wheels with Velocity fusion areo rims, sapim spokes and American Classic hubs. (He changes out the bearings on the front hub with swiss make bearings) The wheels weight 1428 grams with out rim tape. I have been riding these wheels for a year and have yet to true them!! I ride nasty East Coast roads. I weight 160lbs. $540.00. Speeddream.com
