|I rode today for the first time in a year. Actually, it was closer to 18 months, as I'd slacked off pretty much the previous winter, too. But, darn it, I'm coming back.
I'd made a bad career move, and came close to destroying myself and my family. And I just couldn't make myself get on the bike and ride.
Now we've moved to the Midwest, I have a great job doing important stuff with wonderful people, and we're all happy and energized again.
So here I am, 50 years old, with about 100,000 miles under my belt, starting over. It's amazing how much I've lost. This morning's ride - at 6am - was just 10 miles, and I only averaged 14.7 mph according to my computer. I'm also 15lb heavier. But it still felt sweet, and I managed to dance up one or two of the more gentle hills.
I'm going out again tomorrow. But I'll be wearing a t-shirt instead of one of my usual road tops...it'll hide my gut better!
