Getting out for a 30 mile ride at 8 am on a lazy Saturday morning is what I needed. Sun was shining bright and the sky was silverish blue. Wile riding beside the strand I could hear the waves crashing. Yes I did fell the wind hit me hard on times, but all in all it was nice. At mid ride I stopped and sat on a bench staring at the Pacific Ocean off Coronado beach. Had some carbs and drank half my water. Got back on and road back wishing I could have stayed staring at the beach a wile longer.
Saturdays are the best days to go out riding. No place have you needed to be for work.
What abut your ride?

|After saying I was going to do it for several months, finally did the Irvine to Oceanside ride. Beautiful day to ride by the beach... as soon as I hit Dana Point, the sun broke through and warmed up my ride down PCH. I can't say enough about the views from the path that runs parallel to the coast...
The little burp on the freeway (since 9/11, Camp Pendleton has closed access to cyclists so there is a 7 mile stretch on the 5 freeway you take south) was a bit of a rush. My pre-occupation with the motorists caused me to run over some road debris and flattened my front tire. It's difficult enough to change a tube when you're breathing heavy after 45+ miles but try doing it on the side of the freeway when cars are buzzing by at 70+ miles/hour.
Can't say enough about So.Cal weather. Best place to be a cyclist!

|Rode from Mission Trails to El Capitan Resevoir...... Beautiful! Yes, San Diego was wonderful. I joined a group ride to El Monte Park and the Res and it was a wonderful 42 miles.|

|How bike-friendly is the park and the surrounding area? I just stumbled across an article about the park today, and wondered if it that should be part of one of our rides when we're down there next month.|

|I can't agree with you more, Southern California has the best weather for biking. Although the winds can be strong at times for riding. It's always nice to train in the middle of winter. Today I rode along the beaches in Los Angeles- Redondo to Santa Monica and around. I can't wait for tomorrows ride. Probably another sunny day in LA tomorrow.

|Hey, I was out and about on the Strand on Saturday also. There is a group that leaves Coronado at 7:00 a.m. every Saturday monrning (rain or shine) for the past 20 years. They ride south on the Strand at an easy pace and turn around at Imperial Beach. One group races back to Coronado while the other group just rides back. At the end we all meet at Pat's house for coffee, donuts, and good conversation.
This was my first day on my bike since my back operation. Saturday was, indeed, a good bike ridnig day in San Diego.

|Stop, you're killing me. I moved away from So. Cal. just over 10 years ago. I was even born in Coronado. I am now living in Michigan. I am proud to say I have clothes to enable me to ride in single digit weather with a 15 mph wind. Rain or snow. It really stinks! I'll be back someday.|| |
