Found this article in latest Bicycle Retailer Newspaper kinda of interesting.
Here it is:
"Three Years after 71 cyclist were arrested during a protest ride at the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles an arrest that led to the double strip-searching of two dozen jailed woman the board of Supervisors was considering a proposed $2.75 million settlement that the cyclist were mistreated during their stay in Los Angeles County's Twin Towers Jail. At the time police said the group tore through traffic, scaring pedestrains and generally acting like fools. The Cyclist said they were just rolling along with a police escort that suddenly went all, like Frankensteinian on them especially on the 23 woman in the group, who were subjected to illegal strip-searches, both on the way in and out of the hoosegow.
Police held the entire group in county jail for two days but never striped search the males only the women.

Under the terms of the bicyclists' proposed settlement, jailed women would get $70,000 apiece, while jailed men would get $5,000 a piece.
