Ok so this is the first time I have done a ride report just because I have finally bought a digital camera. So here is the basics

So this is the second and last rest stop before the finish. Very rural church so I thought I would share...

I'd go up around 600 pixels next time, easier on the eyes over 40, like mine.

And, once again, when you're that close, you must show Civil War Battlefield shots just to give me my fix. :-)

Nice Report

many of us Elvisvillians are looking foward to the harpeth river ride, chattanooga 3 state/3 mountain, and (some of us, not me tho) also the clarksville labor day century. maybe i'll see you on the first 2 of those three?!?

I plan on doing the harpeth ride and possibly the clarksville labor day ride.
I was wanting to do the 3 state but I don't think my legs are ready for that just yet

you'll have no problems with chattanooga.

the harpeth 100 has something like 5500 or 6500 feet of climbing, mostly rollers, but two pronounced hills. chattnooga has around 8000 feet, over three mountains and two large hills.

that harpeth ride is--without exception--the most scenic and enjoyable ride i've done in the last several years. support on that ride is second only to what i've seen at MS150 rides. the harpeth folks have rolling SAGs, entertaining stops, and mechanics at some of the SAGs.

chattnooga builds character. it was my first century, ever. two years ago it was hot and dry and 85*F for the "big climb". last year it barely got over 60*F and rained all day, with gentle breezes atop the mountains. one *not* to miss!

you can work up to 100 by then! you're riding a strong 30, you can ride a strong 100 with 8 weeks of saddle time between now and june 21--nooooo problem!!!

route options are 26, 64, and 100 miles. this would be the perfect ride for your first century! chattanooga's 3/3 was my first 100 a couple years ago, and it was *and* was not a great introduction to "distance" riding.

the SAGs are such that i may gain some weight on this ride.

:) :) :)

btw, we'll all drive up, ride, and drive home same day.

in Sept at the Fall colors. You won't change my mind. I don't want to ride 100 miles before then. Especially one with so many hills. Nope, won't do it.

Seriously, this sounds good. It's my new goal now that I'm more confident. See my post above re: questions about this weekend. I'll know a lot more about my ability.

fall colors in on sept 13, and i'll probably ride to the start, help with registration and setup, ride the ride, and ride home. last year it was brutally hot and muggy.

don't forget the MS150 on sept 20/21. that is one awesome ride--hundreds of riders and SAGs that i've not seen rivaled, save Harpeth. plus, you get to overnight at the casinos. last year, dinner and breakfast was awful, but this year they promise a marked improvement. the MS150 route, coupled with riders and "packs" of all speeds and abilities, make for an interesting couple of days. we usually extend the route to get a nice, round 100 on one day or the other.
