Pulled out my 'good' set of Speedreams now that the weather is better and the potholes are getting filled. My plan was to put the open pros away for a while. But I forgot ... my speadreams were out of true (courtesy of getting 'whacked' by my four year old - another story).
So, I start trueing them. A couple of turns on a nipple and POP goes a spoke. The spoke the aforementioned four year old whacked. Replaced the spoke. STarted over. Just can't get them true. Screw it! I'm taking them to my LBS for proper truing and tensioning. Sometimes you just have to admit defeat and get it done by a pro.
OK. My rant is over. Besides, I have nothing to complain about really...I've been able to ride about 180 miles over the last 8 days. That's a great number for me. I've got a 200 mile weekend coming up in early May - so I need the miles! Cheers.....

|... I have this tendancy (I think I got it from Mom) to throw inappropriate objects (usually heavy and dangerously shaped) at inappropriate targets (usually expensive with glass or glass parts) when I get frustrated...
I dearly love to do my own wrenching... and an occasional wheel true or build... but my own experience tells me... when I'm pressed, and I've only got one replacement spoke... and it breaks... it might be time to walk away...
Be the bike.

|Thrown baseballs and TV tubes don't mix. I was too frustrated last night to true the wheel. I had just gotten finished trueing my wifes' bike wheel. The wheel hadn't been touched in 7 years. It was a PIA. I should never had taken on my good wheels last night.
That said. I walked into the LBS at lunch today. The owner says..."hey Paul, something wrong with your wheel??" I said "outta true, needs re-tensioning and I don't have the patience to do it!". Hey, at least I was honest. I'll get it on Wednesday. Besides, I love an excuse to browse in the LBS.
