Flight Deck feedback...Matno

A couple of different people asked me to post feedback once I got the Flight Deck installed, so here it is...

Just to clarify, I have the 6501 head with the wireless SM-6501 harness. Piece of cake to set up. Even with trying to be extra careful and doing it for the first time, it wasn't too bad. Took me about 1/2 hour to install the harness and re-wrap my bars. Only glitch was the too short bar mounting bolt mentioned in a previous post. I removed the washers and it fit fine.

It took a little less than 20 minutes to program the head - mostly because I was taking my time. The instructions weren't as bad as everybody makes them out to be. It's practically self explanatory. I only had to use the all clear button once towards the beginning because I accidentally pushed the wrong button (my mistake). The only hitch was having to stop to look up the tooth numbers on my cassette cogs (which I found easily on this site).

Once it was all set up, the contacts worked fine, gear shifts showed up perfectly on the screen, and everything seems as it should be. All in all, a pleasant experience. Time will tell how well it holds up, but if it's anything like my last computer, which still works perfectly (a Cateye Micro that I found in a pile of leaves on the side of the road in Germany in '93) it should last a good long time...
