Flite TT vs. standard Flite(6 posts)

Flite TT vs. standard FliteBergMann

Has anyone logged miles on both the original Flite and the new Flite TT saddle?

Is the only difference tubular instead of solid Titanium rails and the suede cover? Do both have the same foam padding? The S. Italia website had some pretty pictures, but didn't have much detailled info.

I ask, because I just had an _extremely_ negative experience with the new SLR, and don't want a seat that saves weight by skimping on padding.

I have two of them. They seem like they have a little less padding. Also, the suede seems to soak up and hold sweat a little, making my crotch somewhat less comfortable -- stays sort of damp and grabs my shorts more instead of sliding smoothly.

I think the shape is the same as the regular Flite.

Doesn't sound like much has changed with suede since my old suede Turbo, which had the same problems.

Are there any other fully-padded, smooth-leather covered options (Selle Italia or otherwise) under 200g?

I know the regular Flite is just over 200g (as is my current Avocet 02), and am willing to experiment if the weight actually comes down, say via tubular rails.

The Fizik Aliante, both the CF and titanium railed versions, allegedly weigh in under 200g. They will also lighten your wallet considerably.

The TT has identical shape to regular Flite, only less padding, less give-in. To me, that actually means more solid support(meaning: better). Then again, this came from someone with very_positive_experience with SLR as well.
I have the white Flite TT with Zebra stripes on them, Selle Italia uses smooth leather instead of suede leather for this version. If you don't mind the Cipo theme, this would be a great choice. You can have you LBS order it from QBP.

I have both the flight TT and the regular flight on 2 different bikes. One thing I notice about the TT is that is has become pretty slick. Comfort wise it is as comfortable as the regular flight, it does seem to have a slightly different shape to it.
