I've been riding a trek 1000 for about 3 years. Currently i am lookong at the following frames:
1.colnago ct1
2.aegis victory
3.merlin solis or cyrene
4.litespeed siena
5.calfee tetra

i rode a trek 5200, loved the geometry, didn't mind the carbon ride. i just don't like the whole trek thing. i want comfort over the long haul. some racing maybe done, but general speed is needed. so if you have any suggestions please come forth. your opinions are welcome.

Take a look at the Lemonds, they have great geometry as well as curb appeal. The Ti are especial cool

From your list...the ct1 takes the cake, merlin is #2

Let's just say this... do you want to really really fit in at your group ride? Treks are the most popular bikes on the road right now... nothing wrong with them, but you are going to have the same bike that at least 3 or 4 other guys have at your local post office ride or its equivilent. Your bike will not stand out of the crowd because it is the crowd. That's all. Some people like to be different and don't want to ride the same frame that everyone else has. That's the whole allure of custom painted bikes.
