|DA 2004 trickle down question...||PsyDoc|

|When the new DA crank/BB technology trickles down to Ultegra in a year or so, will that mean that the current crank/BB system present in both Ultegra and DA become obsolete? In other words, will Shimano stop producing the current cranks/BBs? Because if they do, then I will need to start saving up as the new system will probably cost in the neighborhood of the new XTR cranks at $450.00. Right now, I do not particularly like the look of the new cranks, but given time...who knows.|

|....Sorry I just had to say it. Remember that trickle down happens when Shimano figures ways to make cheaper. Also, over time with deeper production numbers cost is decreased. I am very doubtful that the ultegra version of the cranks will run near 450. Also keep in mind that at the current time the XTR product is very new and mail order as well as IBD's are selling for the same price. As the newness wears off this too will change and you may see more price competition.
If you just have to be the first kid on the block to get the new stuff though be prepared to pay more.

|I say boycott both the Yakuza and the Outfit, er, Shimano and Campy. Look at Specialties TA and at Fullspeedahead.|| |
