Voler chamois -- a surprise(18 posts)

Voler chamois -- a surpriseOldEdScott

I never tout products here -- at least not anything less than 20 years old -- but I gotta say, my daughter gave me some Voler shorts last week, and the chamois they use is ALMOST as good as the genuine leather chamois we used back in the day. I don't know how they do it, but the 'second-skin' feel is real similar.

If anyone out there is unhappy with standard fare 'modern' shorts, you might give them a try next time you're shorts shopping. (I don't know how those of you happy with modern chamois will feel about them). Your mileage may vary, and in fact almost certainly will --
all day comfort: Voler shorts and Brooks saddles. YMMV. :) nmJS Haiku Shop

Are you talking about the blue Catera pad ? Best thing I ever sat on.

but wool shorts in the 70s and 80s had real leather chamois (chamoises?) that felt just about like that.
Old enough to remember the cold slime.MR_GRUMPY

Never used wool shorts in the mid 80's, but I pulled on my fill of cold slimey shorts. Now I think that pulling on a cold chest strap for a heart monitior is hard.
I was surprised how bad they areLC

The stitching runs right were my sit bones contact the saddle. Worse thing is that they are my team shorts, so I have to wear them for the races. The material is good, but the design is poor.

I have the same problem with them. Had to return the ones I bought. They need a different, wider (?) shape.

My new Voler shorts just came in the mail yesterday. I haven't had the time to use them on the bike yet but they were extremely comfortable when I tried them on.

I guess everyone's butt is different. I didn't care so
much for the blue Voler pad. I like the suede pad in
the Boure Pro shorts much better. But I will say that
the Voler shorts last a long time.
What? You say you found a surprise in your bike shorts?Kristin

I have 2 pair of Volers. 1 mens (blue chamois) and 1 womens. I like the mens shorts better than the womens--though both are okay. And the price is so much better than the other brands out there.

the only beef with Voler shorts they're not very durable. Chamois falls apart, liner wears down quickly. Now 5-8k trouble free miles for 35$, hmm
