Group Rides In Santa Barbara? or??cipolini2b

Hello,

I'm staying in Isa Vista for the week (till thursday), and was wondering if there are any group rides around here. I usually do intensity+distance on tuesdays, and it would be great if i'm not out there alone (new to riding here). If there aren't any group rides out here, I'd welcome an opportunity to just go out and hammer with someone. Climbs, distance, intervals, whatever. Email (cipolini2b@aol.com) or respond to this post. Thanks

Hi,

I'm a UCSB alum who's (unfortunately) no longer in the area, but I raced with the UCSB team, and back in my day, Tuesdays usually were a day for the rolling Carpenteria ride. This time of year you'll probably be riding through fields of ripe strawberries -- one of the most amazing olfactory experiences I've ever had.

Here's a link to the UCSB team webpage:
http://ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu/physical-activities/recsports/sportclubs/cycling/rides.html
looks like most of the rides they've listed here are general local rides.

For training rides starting in IV, call one of the people listed on the "contacts" page and ask when and where the team meets each day to train. In my day it was right on the UCSB campus.

Enjoy!

PS -- if you're on your own, get a map and do the old San Marcos Rd. climb to Camino Cielo. 50+ miles, a couple thousand feet of climbing, and amazing views!
