|I thought there was no rain in CA between end of March and December... well, for sure there was some on the 400K in San Luis Obispo last saturday. Strong headwinds, heavy rain, plenty of climbing, everything was there. Was by far the most difficult ride I've done so far. And a double finisher of PBP said it was the same for him. It took me 23 hours (finished at 5am).
The full ride report, with pictures, no popup or popunder, is on
Below: a view of Pinnacles national monument (our turnaround point)... on a sunny day.

|He was much stronger than me (not very difficult), but not going considerably faster. And I think he stopped at a motel to sleep a few hours before doing the last 40 miles. I saw him with a few other riders, trying to keep warm in a Jack in the box at the last checkpoint, at about 12:30am.

|you made it. 400k is generally the hardest, you'll find 600 easier.
We did 300k last sat and while overall weather turned out o'k in morning we had to deal with rain, wind with temp in low/mid 30s. At first checkpoint I squished from my socks enough water to fill water bottle, and I had Goretex oversocks and booties. O'k see you at PBP.
PS. Check airfares, they dropped ~400$ from East Coast, United doesn't charge for bikes good luck
|I really like your reports.Keep 'em coming! (nm)||PEDDLEFOOT|

|Yeah, Saturday didn't look like a good day for riding. Good job hanging in there and finishing. My 400k brevet is this Saturday out of Davis. Luckily, only 10% chance of rain if you believe the weather guys.|| |
