Just a quick question, how many miles do you get out of a set of tires, i know back and front will be different, just wondering if I am pushing them too far or not enough. Oh, I guess we can normalize this and say Michelin Axial Pros since a lot of us ride them, although chime in with whatever you get. Any difference with a pair of tubulars?
240 lbs., 2000+ miles--they dry out before they wear outSilverback

I use bigger tires than a lot of people, usually 700x32s, and I get a least a year out of them, which is about 2000 miles for me lately. They nearly always crack the sidewalls before they wear out, and I replace them when I notice that and see something I like on sale. I could certainly go longer, though--I almost never have a failure.
Sooooo..............what brand? nmTower

I'm using Axial Carbons, and I got well over 2,000 miles out of a set of 23s. I'm still using them, in fact...the rear has squared off a little, but a whole lot less than I would have expected.

FWIW, I'm a member of the 195# club.

I'm also 240lbs and run Performance Forte pro's at 110 psi. I get 800 on the rear and 1100 out of the front if not rotated. Don't last long but very "sticky" which instills a lot of confidence under hard cornering.

YMMV Bob.

Last 2 years have been using Kenda Koncepts--cheap and yellow! I get 1500 miles, with rotating front to back when i notice unequal wear. I'm 5'11", 155 lb. and live and ride in NYC. But I admit that I ride them down pretty far, probably more than most people. .

An aside: I hate that top quality bike tires cost as much as decent car tires. I have in the past spent a lot for tires ($45 for Conti mtb tires) but since I don't race, I'm going with cheap and cheerful...(Koncepts about $15-$20 at Supergo etc.)
