Paris-Roubaix picks(10 posts)

I'm going with Van Petegem, Mattan and Musseuw, in that order. Sven Nijs as a dark horse in bad conditions but now I'm going with VDB as the dark horse given the weather.

Eurosport's showing it in the UK. After watching Van Petegem power up the Tombassie in the Ronde, his form is very strong.

Weather's supposed to be good, as in sunny and 16. Weather on the continent this week's been pretty good although cold. Not quite the race of attrition that the race has been the last few years but like it was in 1996, the first of the Lefevre hat tricks.

For me it'll be VDB, Boonen and Planckaert. Van Petegem isn't used to win two big races in a row.
I live in Flanders and I see VDB a lot on trainingrides (should make a turn one time and try talking to him), he is always training his hills/strength on the Kemmelberg (bad-ass pavement just like Paris-Roubaix) so he really is used to ride them knobbles. I think the weather isn't bad enough for Museeuw. The weather forecast is sunny, almost no wind. If Museeuw wins, it'll be a bad day for Mister Paris-Roubaix Roger De Vlaminck, he already stated different times that in his days it was a lot more difficult to win Paris-Roubaix than nowadays (bad loser?).

My pick is Musseuw. Just a tough rider in this type of race.

He's pissed-off according to Bobke about that line from De Vlaminck. Hard not to pick him, although he had been bothered by a respiratory illness...
I'll go out on a limb, Max V. or EkimovQUiTSPiNiNArOuND

Did I say Ekimov? ;)QUiTSPiNiNArOuND

That was quite a performance by the Russian. He might have been able to pull it off if he attacker early in the velodrome forcing a chase by Van Petegem, and if Ekimov got far enough, Van Petegem would have the power to use his sprint. Of course thats just my opinion
