My new bike!!!(10 posts)

My new bike!!!geckotb

after having this on layaway all winter, i finally picked up my new bike a week ago. i got out for only one ride before it snowed for a whole week.

In a small LBS that specializes in vintage bikes, i found a NOS '96 concorde carbon tvt, never owned, mostly shimano 600 except for the campy front derailleur. i put some new open pro/ultegras and a muscle fork, oversized stem and bars and a flite saddle on it to modernize it a bit from the old aluminum fork and cheap wheels, and added a 13/26 durace cassette because i'm a wimp and live in the rockies. the muscle fork matches the natural carbon tubes perfectly.

i've been reading about the ride i could expect from a full carbon bike, but this thing rides even smoother than i expected and climbs a billion times better than my old steel bike. i still can't believe the difference. the snow has melted enough since the weekend so i'll take it out for its second ride after work tonight. it's going to be hard to get through the the work day!
nice! happy ridin' and enjoy it! nm.jeff27

Never seen a bike like that. It's always nice to see something different. Are those aluminum lugs? You did a nice job setting it up.
I have the LOOK version of that frameDave Hickey

You are going to love the ride quality. It's the same frame as my LOOK KG86.

Great looking bike.
Is the KG96 a different vintage of the same bike?dzrider

I got one (fixed) pretty cheap on E-Bay. Had to solve a few problems, but really enjoy riding it. I've been curious about the age, material descriptions and other's opinion of the frame.

It the same bike except a different carbon mix. The KG96 has some ceramic in the tubes. The KG96 was made from 1987 to around 1992. I'm leaving for out of town for a couple of days but when I return, I'll make copies for for you. I have an old LOOK catalog that has complete frame descriptions. Email me at dhickey@caribbeantrans.com with your address. I won't be able to send it until early next week.
re: My new bike!!! - what ever happened to tvt?geckotb

thanks for the kind replies. those are aluminum lugs. all of the look tvt's that i've seen have had anodized or painted lugs; i haven't seen one with polished lugs like these. i'd love to see more pics of other people's tvt's, either looks or concordes, or however else they were badged.

does anyone know when tvt stopped making bikes? i'm told that tvt's were much sought-after bikes back in the early to mid-90's (helped by lemond winning the TdF on one), but then disappeared. apparently, there was one later version of this bike that had a replaceable rear derailleur hanger, but it's been hard to find information about this bike.
