|Can anyone recommend a shop in NYC area that has a GREAT reputation for fitting? I would like to get a lighter frame eventually and I want to take my time finding the perfect frame/fit. I can spend no more than $1500 w/ fork. My tendency is toward nicer american steel-i.e IF or Steelman or a more modern Carbon/Alum job-Orbea, FORT, Cinelli, GIOS i.e.

|Don't know where you live, but you might try Sid's on the East Side. They sell IF, if you're looking for high-end U.S. steel. I live on the upper W.S. and usually go to Bicycle Renaissance on 81st/Columbus...they seem to sell a lot of Colnagos and appear to know their stuff. I've heard good things about the Bicycle Station in Brooklyn, too.
BTW, I have an IF Crown Jewel (not bought at Sid's) and am very happy with it. I paid $1475 including a sterling silver head tube badge. Total built with Campy 10-speed Centaur, King headset was $2700.
I was considering a Serotta, (and couldn't really tell you if there's any discernable difference) but the shop that sold Serottas was 30 miles away vs. 5 miles to the shop that sold IF. Funny how little things can tip the balance.
(FYI, shop was Evolution Pro in Buckingham, PA. I'll give them a plug here. Scott, the owner, sells Orbea and a host of high-end Italian stuff. If you've got a car, it's worth the trip.)

|I think Bicycle Renaissance has a serotta fiting cycle. I seem to remember seeing one there when I went in there last fall.|

|I believe you're right about the Serotta machine at Bicycle Renaissance.|

|I live around the corner from Bike Renn. and go there often. They do have the Serotta thing but I have never seen them use it. It is in the back under 3 years of dust.
Plus I just get a better feeling from Sid's. However, I'm not willing to move to the dark side to be closer to them.
