Hello all. Wondering if anyone has heard of/knows about/rides a Strong Frame bike. My friend and I were doing searches the other day for scandium road frames and came across www.strongframes.com and saw that they offer a scandium version of any bike they make! It's pricey, to be sure, but perhaps they make that good a frame...

Any thoughts?

There are a whole lot of people out there that can build a very fine custom bike frame. Carl Strong is definately in that group. His bikes are super sweet and well built. Nice finish work and great paint jobs too... everything you want in a custom bike frame. The catch is that you pay for it, but if you can afford to spend that on a bike frame, his are some of the best out there. I would put his work on par with Sachs, Serotta, Kelly, and Chris Chance to name a few. Well worth the money.

I'm considering having strong build me a custom in foco. Any comments I have found, or answers to questions I have posted on strong frames have been extreamly positive. Don't know much about the cost of scandium frames (not into aluminum) but as far as his steel & ti frames go, they are a pretty good value compared to some of the better known custom builders. You can give Carl Strong a call he is very knowledgable and easy to talk to. Right now I'm leaning towards a strong frame but Idependent Fabrication is a close second.

Built in Ultra Foco - great bike, great build, great guy to work with. Patient, knowledgeable and he'll build you whatever you want. His quality is outstanding and I really don't think he's all that pricey when you consider what a top quality aluminum frame costs. Colnago Airplane - $1700, Derosa V107 - $2200, Orbea Starship - $1250 (+fork), Merckx Team SC - $2100, Strong $1200 + $3-400 for a fork. Seems to me he looks pretty reasonable considering you get to pick your dimensions and paint while ending up on a frame that no one else has.
