I ordered Michelin Pro Race tires from Branford Bike, but they say they shipped Michelin Axial Pro tires. They say these are the same tire, is this true?

I believe the Axial Pro is last year's model and it's not produced anymore. It's place was taken by the Pro Race. I'm not sure if they're exactly alike.

But if you can explain what that 10g difference is....?

They're essentially the same tire. The pro race is supposedly 10 gms lighter if you believe the marketing propaganda. I rode on both last year and couldn't tell the difference, but they should give you a discount for the Axial Pros because they're old stock.

I agree with what Jon says above. They also should discount your order simply for sending you something you did not order without checking with you first. I would tell them either to credit back my card $10 or have them issue a call tag to have UPS pick them back up at their expense, being you were shipped something you didn't order. If you put it like that, I can bet you will get that 10 bux back.

Keep the Axial Pro's. In my experience they are a far better tyre than the newer Prorace. Had a major rear blowout with Prorace after the first 30km this year and the tyre was torn badly due to the rubber compound being too soft and prone to cutting, splitting and abrasion. The shop has done you a favour!
