It is Cherry Blossom time!MB1

I took these shots yesterday morning. It was a nice clear warm morning and the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom.

Ohio Drive around Haines Point is pretty much lined with Cherry Blossom trees (these are not cherry fruit trees). Traffic was very light as the sun rose at 5:45 on a weekday morning-look for traffic jams this weekend.

The best views of the blossoms are at the tidal basin.
Beautiful. You live in a great area!Kristin

Hey, is that a stock Gunnar? Roadie? I'm considering a custom that would be much like the new Sport, but with a shorter TT and longer stays. How do you like it? (Not sure this is a fair question, since I doubt you could find a bike you wouldn't be at home on.)
I have an older Street Dog.MB1

It is a SS/Fixte built on a Cyclo-Cross frame. I like my Gunnar a lot with the exception of the low quality decals.

They are great values and I would highly recommend them.
Thanks! Hey, what camera do you use again?Kristin

DC is really very pretty in the Spring...bent_spoke

Thanks for the picture...I use to live in the area(4 years) & I always loved the Spring time. I was lucky to run in the Cherry Blossom road race one year & it was great as you got to see some of the City, monuments with very nice flower gardens & the famous Cherry Blossoms, although it was not always warm as you mentioned.

There is a sidewalk around the tidal basin that has great views of the Jefferson Memorial. If you plan to visit this weekend don't plan on riding on that walk. Lock your bike up and enjoy a (very crowded) stroll.

I took this one last year, it looks just the same this year. Just as the sun is starting to hit the blossoms.
Beauty, MB1. You really have a great eye! nmlook271

Not the only place to ride in town.MB1
Apr 4, 2003 7:39 AM
There were folks riding everywhere. All winter we only saw the small number of hard core commuters. Now there are large numbers of cyclists everywhere.

I always like riding past the Lincoln Memorial. Most of the sites are blocked to autos but cyclists can still get through.

Don't drive into town this weekend-unless you want to see a whole lot of this.

Have fun.
wow - that's beautiful! (nm)Rich_Racer

Well, I'm planning to ...Humma Hah

... but a glimpse of the cherry blossoms is really only an excuse to ride in from 28 on the W&OD. I need the exercise.

Are you planning anything on the C&O anytime soon? I just got 20 and 22T freewheels in, and the cruiser is eager to do a little dirty work to try 'em out.
Those are cars. We have them also here in SoCal. nmBruno S
