I do not have a performance bike shop in my state, so I was wondering what peoples opinion is of the SL-1

Here are the specs

Frame Double Butted 7005 Aluminum with Replaceable Derailleur Hanger
Fork Carbon Fiber with Alloy Steerer
Headset VP 1 1/8" Sealed Bearing with Carbon Spacers
Bottom Bracket Sealed Bearing
Handle Bar 6061-T6 Aluminum with Ergonomic Bend
Stem Forte Pro SL
Bar Tape Synthetic Black
Brake Lever Shimano 105
Brake Caliper Forte Dual-Pivot
Crankset Shimano 105 39/52T
Pedals Forte Classic
Chain KMC Z9900
Shifter Shimano 105
Front Derailleur Shimano 105
Rear Derailleur Shimano 105
Cassette Shimano HG70 12-25T 9-speed
Saddle Velo Plush Race
Seatpost Forte Aluminum
Rims Alex R-400
Tires Forte Pro Kevlar 700x23
Tubes Butyl Presta Valve
Front Hub Forte 32 Hole Straight Pull
Rear Hub Forte 32 Hole Straight Pull
Spokes 14/15/14 gauge DB Stainless Steel

I am comparing this to Specialized Sequoia Expert ($1000); Bianchi Giro ($800 Supergo???). I was told I could use a 20% off coupon on this bike and it would be around $680.

I bought one late last summer for the same price, but before you do, join Team Performance, and get 10% in credit..and, buy it through www.ebates.com to get an additional 3% cash rebate...
It is nice bike for the price. The welds arent the prettiest, but at the price you wouild be paying..its a good deal...a C'dale or Trek with 105 is well over a grand..The frame is a KHS frame...
Well, the only thing right about it is price.Fez

Rather than saying what's bad about the bike, it would be easier to count the few "good" parts, which amount to:

Shimano 105 shifters, derailleurs, crankset, and cassette.

The rest of the bike is crap - KHS frame, Alex wheels, Performance house brand stuff everywhere else.

If you want cheap but better, look at Fuji Team. Costs a little more, but has Ultegra/Ritchey level components and a much better frame. Performance retail stores do sell this bike, so if you can get to one, you would still get the Team Performance credit.
I can get you a good deal on a Pinto also. Saw one last night,Paul

okay to look at. Overall, their qualitiy has improved (Forte), but I personnally wouldn't buy one. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Put your money into a proven, high quality frame, and up-grade components in the future, you're bike will be worth more, and you'll feel better about it.
