|I've been riding 200 miles weeks for years including wet pennsylvania winters and sweltering desert summers and I've never had a saddle sore.
But something changed recently i moved to sacramento. it's hot, sweaty and painful.
can anyone give some this aching ape?

|Every major supermarket will have Desitin or A&D Ointment at their baby care isle, they should work for after you get the sores. Who cares about the smell when you have to waddle to get anywhere! It might even help you pick up women...really sick women.
To avoid getting them in the first place (sores, not women) try using Chamois Butt'r or PowerGlide. Also get out of those wet shorts soon after a ride. They are full of bacteria and nasty germs. I've even driven home from an organized ride in nothing more than a towel because I forgot a pair of shorts. Lucky I wasn't pulled over by the law!

|Like hycobob said, prevention is best. I wash the "area" with Betadine solution after every ride and on particularly long or hot rides I "pre-treat" my chamois with anti-bacterial powder.
But if you do get a saddle sore, Desitin is the trick. And I'll apply the stuff several times a day.

|How are the resorts on Baby care Isle? Is it in the Caribbean or the South Pacific? Are they all inclusive? Is there a bad time of year to go? I bet its mobbed during spring break. |
Sorry couldn't help it. I just had these funny images run through my mind when I read the words Baby care isle.

|to Sacramento. There is some great road and mtb riding around here. Head up to Salmon Falls for good climbing and out to Granite Bay or Auburn for the killer mt biking trails.
There is always the "Saturday Ride", a fast to race paced ride every saturday down the Garden Hwy.
Chamois Butt'r works for me.

|A real saddle sore is an inflamed infected pimple in your crotch. Some people (like my wife) confuse chafing with saddle sores. A real saddle sore will feel like a lump. Painful as it is, the best thing to do is squeeze all the pus out of it. Once you've done wipe it off with peroxide and let it dry. I've had luck putting some zit cream with 10% benzoile peroxide on the sore before I go to bed.
Probably wouldn't hurt to stay off the bike for a few days. Cleanliness is the best way to avoid these. Wear clean shorts. Setting the chamois out in the sun will kill bacteria in them. Clean your crotch before going out and after coming back. Wear loose fitting clothes after a ride too.
I used to get these all the time, but I don't anymore.
