Hole in dropout on Cannondale - what's it for?Matno

Just out of curiousity, what's the purpose of the hole in the non-drive side dropout of my CAAD4 frame? It looks like it's there for a reason, but I can't figure out what, unless it's to save a tiny bit of weight. It's not threaded, but it's also not painted on the inside. Could it be that that's what they use to hold the frame up while it's being painted? It would make a great rear rack attachment if it were threaded and had a matching hole on the drive side, but it doesn't.

Anybody know?
