Time for a new chain(4 posts)

Time for a new chainBill RHIT

It's time for me to replace my chain. However, in the past I have always just went with the traditional Shimano 9 sp HG. I am interested in the SRAM Powerlink for the simple fact that I like to take my chain off and clean it fairly often. This would be easier with the SRAM and not require a chain breaker. Any pros/cons or other reccomendations?

Thanks,

I have had GREAT luck with the SRAM chain & the powerlink! I too clean my chain on a very regular basis & remove it to do so. Works great on Shimano drivetrains & I've had good mileage with it so far. If you have the $$$$$ try the wipperman stainless. They have had great reviews also.

The PC89R will work fine with either Shimano 9 speed or Campy 10 speed. If you need to remove your chain for cleaning, that's the way to go.

I bought one last season and have over 3000+ miles on it and LBS checked it today for wear and it is showing almost no stretching wear. Seems to shift better than the stock 105 grade chain. It is super easy to take off and clean. Worth considering I think.
