We've had reports of serious neglect at your residence. I'm afraid we're going to have to take your bikes into protective custody.
LOL, good one! nmnoveread

How many pumps do you have anyway?

you can never have enough floor pumpslonefrontranger
Mar 27, 2003 9:42 AM
We have 3. One in each car, one to hang out in the garage.

When we met, both my SO and I had the classic Silca floor pumps. Eight years and a handful of parts later they both work as good as new. They are easy to fix; we just replace the gaskets every so often, hose maybe every 3-4 years (dryrot).

Someone gave us a nice Joe Blow for Xmas one year. It's the one we leave in the garage.

I just replaced 3 Joe Blow and a Blackburn pump head with Silca heads (just posted in Components forum). They work fine, now that I'm aware of the "wiggle to lock it on" Silca head technique.

Yes, you must have one in every vehicle and one in the garage. I also keep one in the room with the dedicated trainer bike.

... it started as LFR and DS mentioned, more along the lines of logistics... keep a dedicated pump in the truck and one for home... that way, you'd never forget to pack (I'm sure many of us have driven to a race or event and forgotten something (my worst was... a front wheel (which waited patiently for me on my front porch till I returned)).

I adapted a pump with a Silca head for disc and tri spoked wheels... and, being a bit obsessive, when a pump would go on sale... I'd think... backup so now, there's a backup Silca headed pump too... oh, the humanity.
