Save the racing for the warmer days to come. What do you guys think thx d
Race! But make sure it's a duathlon not a biathlon. . .js5280

Biathlon is cross-country skiing and target shooting. Look kind of funny showing up with a bike and running shoes to one of those events :-) Don't worry, lots of people confuse the two. Have fun! This is my 2nd season doing triathlons and they are quite fun.

Actually, in some areas (like the NYC area), they call run-bike events biathlon, rather than the term duathlon that most people in other places use. FYI. Not sure why, and I agree that it sounds like a x-country ski/shooting event - not my thing, that's for sure!

From the southern us...A Biathlon is an event with two events, such as run/bike or bike/swim, or even the olympic ski/shoot...the only duathlons I have seen have three events with one of the repeated, most commmonly run/bike/run.

"I raced for a while and loved those wet and cold days."

If you loved wet & cold days racing, you'll surely love a wet & cold duathlon. Another character-building opportunity.

Biathlon: A competition that combines events in cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

Duathlon: A competition that combines events in running and cycling.

Triathlon: A competition that combines events in swimming, running, and cycling.
So what would you call the ultimate competition?Matno

Biking and shooting. Could anything possibly be cooler than that?! (Answer: NO).

I think people pretty much call two-sport events anything they want. My brother did a "biathlon" last year that combined swimming and running (talk about leaving out the best part of the triathlon!)
I call that biking in DC! nmFattrax

It's like living in a communist country there sometimes. NYC (where I live) is the same way. Sad.
