Seller pays shipping and accepts C.O.D. But I wouldn't bid on it.

I sent an email asking for actual pics of the bike and the bottom bracket serial number. I told the seller I know it's pics of Lance's bike off cyclingnews, and with the rise of scams on ebay, I just want to be safe.

I will let you all know if he replys.

By the way, here's the cyclingnews link to Lance's bike, and they are the same photos....

maybe not? Will you bid?elviento

low starting bid, no reserve, foreign seller with sunglasses and 0 feedback, pictures pulled from elsewhere, what else could scream "S-C-A-M" louder than this???

I saw one of these posts the other day and seeing as how I'm on Ebay a fair bit, I thought I would post this link.

You can submit this stuff yourself when you notice that it is obviously pretty fishy. If they get a few emails regarding the same listing, the offender will soon be history.
Hey! Lance's brother must be selling this....CaliforniaDreaming

I've read so many times here about e-bay scams that I just had to find out for myself. I asked simple questions regarding the model year, miles, and headset. Stated I was a 58cm and looking for a good deal. I wouldn't take this any further, but I guess it goes to show that one must be careful...

"dear sir my bike it is like in the pic but i can photo because it is in new brand box . i have this bike to my bgrother who live in italy and i dont despache the package since i fiind a realy buyer .ok?
i want to sell my bike you want to buy .?mail me soon
i think this is the serial number WL0079883
mail me if you are interest"

So he's consistent about the brother in Italy.

He lists that he's in Toronto. I may email him and tell him I am in Hamilton, right outside and ask if I can see the bike... just ignoring the part he says about it being in Italy. Or tell him I can pay him cash in person to make it easier.. see if he's really in Toronto.

His email is a free email account like hotmail, but they don't verify anything about the person setting up the account... like hotmail used to be.

I think it's a hoax.. but I don't really care anyways, I have a bike. But I sure hope no one here gets taken on a scam like this.
