and Love the Bike. Lurker ride report..... So roughly 4 months with no riding. About an extra 7 pounds. Head out this morning, feeling fast, feeling good. then figuring out it's only a tailwind. Being passed by a granny on a tricycle with the basket full of groceries. On a hill. While she's smoking a cig. Was only yelled at once. Carfull of high school yahoos yelling F@g! Caught 'em at the next light. Wacking the passenger who yelled in the face with my pump. Well, I wanted to, at least. Ah manna! The Peet's in Lexington! My salvation! The magic energy bean! Feeling much better now. Ended up with 37.3 miles, avg of 16.2mph. Ouch. And I don't care. It just felt soooo good to be out riding again. Feelin' the bike love, again tomorrow. And Wednesday. Ah yes, fitness will come back, the poundage will melt off. Spring is here, and I'm jsut rambling on here because my legs hurt. And it feels good. Really good.

I live in an area that has good weather, has a lot of cycling and group rides, and I am in lousy fitness. Two months of traveling for work combined with weekends of either inclement weather, the start of the sailing season, and just hanging with the girlfriend has reduced me to an out of shape sad sack.

I went for a ride Saturday and I could not believe how low my bicycle fitness is right now (compared to where it was even back in December). Oh it is going to be a month of suffering, but it did feel good to be back on two wheels.
