Poll: Too early to shave?jose_Tex_mex

How many out there have yet to shave? When do you normally start (assuming you haven't stopped) - nice weather, when you are back in shape, first race?

My razor is starting to look tempting...
I shave all year round. Go ahead.Do It.(nm)PEDDLEFOOT

after a winter with wooly legs. It will still probably be awhile before I'll ride without tights/legwarmers/knee warmers though.
Forget shaving, braiding is much trendier! nmMB1

That's a lot of razor burn there, Doug.

Ummm, seriously, though, I just shaved on Sunday. It's finally kneewarmer weather in PA, and I feel funny riding around with furry calves. I seem to only grow hair on my legs, but they make up for it by growing wool.
I remove most of the growth with clippers first (that way, you can ball up the hair and impress/disgust people with it!). Got a baseball-sized clump this year.
Then I hop in the shower, exfoliate lightly (yep, I'm a wuss), spread on some King of Shaves gel (far, far better than any foam or gel in a can. Check Target for it, or see shave.com. Also very very nice on the face.)
I use a Mach 3 Turbo, and rinse often. Watch the knees and ankles, and go slowly.
I'm still convinced there's a performance advantage - wooly legs get hot, and hold the heat. Shaved legs feel cool. And the fiance loves them, so that's a plus.
Not too early - shaved just for the heck of it last week.Fez

Went on my first group ride of the year on Sunday. First ride in short sleeves and shorts. Gorgeous weather and a great ride, even though it turned into the usual hammerfest.

I'm waiting until daylight savings. On that day it will be exactly 6 months since the last shave. I don't see what the point of shaving is if you can't wear shorts. I might even hold out longer and take advantage of the added warmth my hairy legs can provide.
I might just not shave my legs at all . . .Rich_Racer

. .. because cycling hasn't yet made me a woman so I'm going to stick with my manly hairy legs! ;)

Last month after my lady cut my hair I got the idea of trying it out. Cut it off in about 10 minutes, after that finished it off with a razor. It was quick and worked great.

Good Luck!

PS stay away from paint remover. it burns the skin.
