link to auction

I've never owned a nice steel bike. This one's a thing of beauty.
I set 3 alarm clocks this morning to wake up in time for the auction close. In the middle of the night I actually woke up from a nightmare in which I missed the close!
Spunout and Dinosaur were trying to get me to tell them what bike it was last week. I think Dino may have done some digging and found the bike (was your guess right buddy?). I was particularly worried about spunout finding out what bike it was because the seller was from Ottawa and I vaguely remember spunout saying he was from that area... Paranoid? totaly! did I mention I had dreams about this bike all week? By this weekend it had become an obsession.
That's the other great thing I'm gonna drive out there, pick the bike up and pay cash this weekend.
I'm going to build it up as a fixie (my first)so I'll be posting it on the fixie forum for advise. But apart from the drivetrain (or even including the drivetrain) how would you guys dress this up? I'm going for art on wheels look so nothing is out of the question...except gears! :)

Yellow highlights on the tubes, so i would use some yellow. A nice buy if i might say. You done good. It will be a real nice fixed gear, alot better than my Raleigh fixed.
not a huge fan of the color, but it's a pretty frame. (nm)rufus

Nice bike, and not too bad a price. Will make a swell fixed gear. As far as dressing I vote for 32h Campy Pista hubs and some Super Champion or similar (or even modern Reflex) tubeular rims as a start. I just switched back to Conti Sprinters for all around use and love 'em (they're cheaper than good clinchers as well). You might check out Chuck's Bike Closeouts as they had Miche Pista groups on sale for awhile. Nice looking crank and high flange hubs if you don't want to spring for Campy's. Post pics on the fixed site when built.
