Wednesday, I extended my lunch ride to 31 miles, and averaged over 20 mph, too. This is on the fixed gear, with 20 mph winds. Felt great, 70 degrees, sunny...

P.S.: there is a LOT of fair weather here

Don't feel bad. I have lots of days like that when 15 would be good.

ps: with the right fixed gear, you CAN'T slow down.

fixed gear + my lunch loop = knees exploding! ;-)

Very nice. Never done a lunch time ride. Downtown LA doesn't have a lot of nice rolling ruralish rides.
pure urban here..._rt_

somewhere along the line you said you're in Atlanta. I have yet to visit GA however, incentive builds each day to do so in a few weeks, if only to take out Martha Burke and rid our planet of just one more annoying moron.

I love lunch rides. I work near Griffith Park in L.A., so if I've packed my good bike in the trunk, I usually head up into the hills. I come back sweaty. Nobody cares. I keep another bike permanently at my office. I take it out on cruises. When I do, I look like a total Fred - long pants, loafers, sport shirt and helmet; cruising on an old Italian racing bike. Pelotons of maniacal roadies zoom past me. I give them a silly grin. Hi folks!

My boss and I went up and cranked out a little over an hour on the skate skis at lunch today. It was snowing pretty good, so we definately got a good workout powering through the new stuff.

Gotta love a little cross training!
