i've used them..but not extensively. From what i understand, they are a great training tool, especially in winter training months.

I know of several triathletes that use them. The biggest benefit to them is improvement in their run (presumably from usage of the hip flexors on the bike). You can ask around at Slowtwitch or Tri-Newbies Online (but be prepared for a flame war at Slowtwitch). I have no experiance with them myself (no interest either, at over $500 a set).
a really good tri-athlete recomended them to me.nmthe bull

They greatly improved my spin and hip flexor strength. I only recently started racing so I don't have any before/after race results.

I do, however, have some training benchmarks that I compared after using them for a year.

ULCER Century before 5:31:00
ULCER Century after 4:42:00
Millcreek Canyon before 1:01:12
Millcreek Canyon after 51:14

I'm guessing at these times but I'm within a minute. 2003 is the first year I have been involved in a serious "structered" training program so I expect to drop my times even more.

If you are going to start using them I would suggest you not use them full-time if your racing season is about to start.
I was going to put them on my trainer.nmthe bull
