Bottom Bracket Problems(4 posts)

Bottom Bracket ProblemsPBLed

I took my bike in the shop becuase the bottom bracket was clicking. The shop insisted on replacing the BB, but after riding on some rough road, the clicking is back.
Also, when I start a sprint in the big chain ring, I feel as if the BB is slipping....when I jump out, the pedals turn a little but the bike doesn't move. Any help would be great, I don't want to get the run around from the shop.

Hmm, that sounds more like a freewheel problem. As long as the chain is moving, the rear wheel should too. If it doesn't, it's got to be the freewheel.

I thought you said when you started to sprint, it felt like the BB slipped. But the BB shouldn't have the effect you describe unless you have an old bike with the freewheel connected to the BB (the chainring always turns when the rear wheel is moving).

Not sure I can be of more help.
