hey there. I want to do a coastal ride from Oceanside to Downtown S.D. on Friday. The farthest I have gotten is from Oceanside to Torrey Pines and back. (I am normally a MTB'er) Anyway, is there a good route to take? Is it all pretty much following PCH? Do I have to cut in anywhere? Any recommendations? I know in La Jolla it gets kinda tricky perhaps, but maybe I am wrong.

Any help would be great, thanks!

After Torrey Pines, turn into UCSD where the Extension buildings are and follow the bike path that leads you out the other side of the campus-on a diagonal-and down the hill that leads to the I5 onramp. Pass under I5 and take the first right onto a trail that will lead you along the freeway until you get to Mission Bay. Follow Mission Bay to Ocean Beach-why go to downtown? Then reverse for the ride back.

You want Scholar's Drive then Gilman Drive to get to the cycle path that goes parallel to I-5 until it reaches Pacific Beach. Then just get on Mission Bay Drive and follow it around Mission Bay towards downtown.
