|Having grown up in Chicago when the Schwinn bicycle company was part of the city and a big part of my childhood, Schwinn brings back many fond memories.
While not high end, thats what I have my Vortex for, it brings me back to steel, after a ten year absence, and my first Campy group ever.
The frame is a Schwinn Peloton, Reynolds 853 tubing Paramount design, the fork is a Look HSC 2. The crank and bottom bracket are 10 speed record, with the headset, brakes, shifters, derailluers and cassette Chorus 10 speed, the wheels are Chorus 10 speed laced 3 a cross with DT revolution spokes and silver alloy nipples laced to Mavic Black Open Pros, tires are Michelin Axail Pros. Handlebars are 3T Prima 199, Ritchey WCS stem, Alien carbonfiber seat post and a Selle SLR snakeskin saddle. The pedals will be here tomorrow and like my other bikes, they will be Speedplay X-1's.
First ride will be tomorrow.

|for my taste, that's how bikes should look like! |
a single white pannel with slightly retro lettering. a cool brand with tradition.
round steel tubing with a level top tube, all painted blue.
on top of that, a record alum. crankset.
perfect bike aesthetics.

|... that's pretty much what I have in mind for the '74 Paramount, a bike I couldn't afford 32 years ago when I got the cruiser.|

|That's absolutely right. I started riding back in the day when a schwinn paramount was THE bike to aspire to own. There is something beautiful about that frame - the tubes all straight and close to the same diameter, not shaped, etc. Just a good old fashioned straight ahead bicycle.|
|Straight? That's not what attracted me to my 'mount ...||Humma Hah|

|... The cruiser only has one straight tube, the seat tube. So I got my Paramount to compliment it.|
|Classic! Enjoy nm||PdxMark|

|Your Scwhinn is all the high end most of us will ever throw a leg over! And what a beauty!
Good job, how about a ride report after you get a chance, and give us a good comparo vs your Vortex!
