Squeeky trainer Question - ideas?rockbender

I am working on setting up my old C-dale mountain bike as the permanent trainer bike. Last night, however, I could not get the tire to quit squeeking (slipping)! I tried three different tires at different pressures and still didn't fair too well. FWIW, the trainer is a Travel Trac with a spring loaded tension mechanism for the resistance unit.

Any recommendations? Do I need to find a different tire, beef up the spring, or go to a 700c wheel/tire?

I purchased this unit with the picture of it being nice and quiet for spinning in front of the nightly news, but it isn't quite there yet!

thanks for your help.

sounds like not enough air and the roller unit not set against the tire hard enough.

esp with mtn bike tires, as there's a lot of volume to fill up, you really need to make the tire rock hard. And then set the unit against the tire so that you get some deflection in the tread.
