We started in Nashville and really enjoyed the Northern end of the Natchez Trace. After about 60 miles the road surface became very rough and the road became very flat (flat roads=no views).

Still it was pretty enough(we rode in late November) and except for around Jackson Mississippi there was very little auto traffic.

There are almost no services on the Trace so you will have to detour for anything more than water. On the Northern end that means some sort of climb to get back onto the Trace.

We found a very good book on riding the Trace by searching the book seller web sites.

I am glad to answer any more specific questions e-mail me at franthis@iwon.com

Before I answer the question tell me how far do you plan on riding? It is a great road to ride, but there is no dedicated bike trail.

I rode it last summer with a group in four days. We started in Nashville. I saved the info in this pc somewhere. I'd be glad to share it, just give me an address and I'll shoot it over to you.
