Francesco Moser!

But no Italian is as stylin as A.C. Milan Footballer Paolo Maldini. That guy has style!

Agreed on Maldini. To me he *is* Italian football! He had a pretty fair mentor in Franco Baresi. What a pair they were. Like trying to move the ball through a brick wall with brains and cunning.

Coppi has to be all time coolest. And saddest. Bugno was great too. I like how he never seemed to smile. Mr. Serious.

My vote goes to TDF (1965) and 3 time Giro ('67,'69,'75) winner Felice Gimondi. One of the many stellar riders who spent much of their careers in the shadow of the great Walloon. On winning the controversial World Road Race Championship in 1973 he summed it all up pretty well; "Maybe I was lucky, but I was ready". Damn right.
