how do they screw up weather forecasts so bad?tarwheel

All week the forecast has been for a sunny, warm weekend in NC. Yesterday they forecasted clear and cool (30s) on Saturday morning warming to low 60s in the afternoon, and sunny again on Sunday warming to mid-70s. This morning, I checked the forecast and it had changed totally. Now they're predicting cloudy and drizzly on Saturday with a high in the 40s, and rain all day Sunday with a high in the 50s. How do these bozos screw up the forecast so bad from one day to the next? Grrrrrr .... There's goes my plan for a nice, long ride in sunny, warm weather. The only bright spot is there's a good chance they'll be totally wrong on the new forecast as well.

If you rely on them for riding after work, then I disregard what I see in the paper or on the morning news. I only believe the forecast for the next few hours from when it was last updated. I usually don't care what the long term forecast is because it is so often incorrect.

I get updates on an internet weather site or call the local weather on the telephone on days I plan on riding.

The frustrasting part is that you hear an extended forecast...2/3/4 days and you make plans and look forwards to the day. Then they screw it all up. They can tell when an Iraqi is pissing in the sand but they cannot give you an accurate forecast?????
Personally I'm happy with their screwup ...Live Steam

They were calling for more snow here today in NYC and the Sun is a shinin' instead! I can't take any more of that white stuff :O( Now as long as their weekend forecast is correct - sunny and warm - I'll be a happy camper :O)

I agree, the forcast for Asheville was 60sand 70s frm Fri-Wed. Now its rain everyday except Fri. I think they just flip a coin....hopefully they ill be wrong. They have demonstrated they really can't predict anything outside of a day or two. I can do that by just lookn at the Radar myself.

What do they do anyways? The computer predicts the weather and its only good for 1 day or 2.
That job is about as bad as a used car salesman job.
I'm telling you. Its a conspiracy.Kristin

I wish someone would do some statistical analysis comparing weather reporting using billions or dollars of equipment versus guessing or just saying that it'll be the same as it was the day before. I think a lot of weather people might end up out of a job. I guess it's just a hard thing to do!
Maybe it'll swing back the other waypmf1

Its not an exact science. The forecast rain all day and highs in the mid-50's in DC yesterday (Thurs). It didn't rain until 6:30 and the temp hit 69.

I feel your pain though. I was all psyched for the first decent weekend in a long time here in DC too. Watching it crash and burn is not pleasant.
