Looking for Century Training Partner in the Chicagoland Western Burbs (x-post from rides board)Kristin

I'm training for a century this spring and decided on the Heatstroke 100 in Burlington, WI on 7/13. The 12 week training schedule starts on 4/21/03 and I'm looking for others riders in my area who might want to join me in my goal. Since the program is so specific, I decided it isn't practical to join any local clubs during the period. I could be a long, lonely 12 weeks.
I'll assume you meant "It could be a long, lonely 12 weeks"dzrider

You, on the other hand, "could be a long, lovely 12 weeks". Your self-promotion needs some work, but I know this guy named Nick who could probably help.
What did I say? ...Oh my.Kristin

But how do you know that's not what I meant? You're too funny.
I don't know what you meant,dzrider

just that I'd rather picture you as fun than picture you as a long lonely 12 weeks.

Depending on your schedule and what day your long ride is I might be interested.I live in Streamwood and am planning some centuries this year but not that early.I'de be curious as to your schedule.I might be able to join you for some of the rides.

The program is below. I'm starting it on the 4/21 because the century I chose in on 7/13. My long day is Sunday. As I punched this all into my calendar today, I was surprised that there isn't as much actual riding as I thought there would be.

I rode the North Shore Century last Sept from Evanston to Kenosha (long and winding route, and a REALLY WELL RUN event) and actually used a training program in Bicycling Magazine (I want to say it was June 2002 issue) and was surprised how well it worked! At the time I didn't have anyone to train with, so ended up doing it alone, and actually enjoyed it! To be fair, I didn't ride it trying to set the land-speed record, but the 4 of us ended up riding 112 miles in a little under 6 hours, which gives me a time to shoot at this year. If you want to email me, I can make a copy of the program and send it to you.

I would like to do a few more century rides this year, so I need to check the calendar and see what my time is like.

Hey Kristin, I'd be interested in training with you. I'm always on the look-out for local training partners as my teammates live in the city or the Northern 'burbs. Training for a century would help me put in some base miles.
Where do you live/train?Kristin
