Or; "random acts of kindness." I went out today for a 25-30 mile ride on the fixie. Just 2 miles in I got a fl*%. No prob, put on the spare and a way we go. 3 more miles down the road and guess what?! 'Nuther fl*&! No more tubes, no patches, I'm screwed. I start the walk home and get about 2 miles along when a young guy stops and asks if I need a ride. 'Duh! Anyway, Jeremy gave me a ride home in his dad's very cool Pontiac Vibe. I guess this is payment for the time I stopped and took a fellow cyclist home several years ago. Moral of story; it pays to be decent and nice......

Very often I will stop to help people(not just cyclists and not just when I'm cycling) at the side of the road, provided they don't look too scary. I never accept payment for the good deed, I always tell them to just "pay it forward". Hopefully its helping to make the world a nicer place in some small way. Come to think of it I've even picked up a few scary looking people and they weren't so bad.

Recently, I came across a guy standing on the side of the road talking on his phone with his bike laying next to him. I ask him if he needs a hand and he gives me this dumb a$$ look and has no idea what I'm talking about. Apparently he just stopped to yap on the phone. Oh well.

Another time I stopped to offer help to a guy with a flat. His frame pump wasn't working. I waste a CO2 so he can continue. Then he tells me he's gonna just wait for his wife who was already on the way to get him. Duh!!! You could have mentioned that while I was putting on a CO2 clinic.

Of course the time my inflator doesn't work I end up riding my flat home with just 50 PSI. All the way home I'm hoping someone could offer help and I get nothing. Figures!!!
