|Emboldened by the super fun time I had in Death Valley, I'm thinking of trying the Davis Double, and am looking for feedback.
I'm not so concerened with the difficulty or course profile (except heat, maybe), but the character of the ride. One of the things that I really enjoyed about my inaugural Planet Ultra experience was that it was a relatively small organized ride and everyone seemed to have their sh*t together. I find I am becoming less and less inclined to do massive rides. Looks like Davis has about 1300 riders.
Anyone do this? Anyone mind if I consult RBR for all minor decisions in my life?

|2 and 3 years ago the temps were over 100F. Last year was pleasant. Lots of riders means lots of paceline action. The Davis Bike Club puts on a good event. I don't think there's anywhere near 1300 riders though - more like half that.|

|Definitely has a different feel from Planet Ultra events. I did it last year and thought it was great. I think the large number of riders made it a lot of fun. I was a bit late to the start so I don't know if that many people starting at once creates any issues. There were lots of pacelines to jump on and everyone seemed to having a good time. As far as the group that puts on the ride, I think that they've been doing the ride for a bunch of years so they're pretty organized. It turned out to be one of my favorite doubles last year.|| |
