Spacers(3 posts)

I just picked up my new Seven Axiom. It is
beautiful and just like I wanted it.
The only problem is the local bike
shop (which I love and has been great
to me) put in 1.5 centimeters of spacers
instead of the 1 centimeter recommended
in Seven's build sheet. Do think I should
worry about this and have it changed or
will I even notice a difference? The bars
seem high but they are supposed to be higher than
old bike.

Once you cut the steerer there is no going back. They may have thought they were doing you a favor by leaving some extra room for adjustment. You can make the adjustment pretty easily yourself. Remove the stem and .5 cm of spacers. Put the stem back on and add the spacers
i above
the stem. Then replace the top cap. Ride it around to see if you like it. If that's what you want to go with just have the shop trip the excess off the top of the steerer.

Mine came with extra spacers until we were sure enough about the fit to cut the steerer.

Plus, 1.5 cm is not too much (ie., not a safety issue). Put 100 miles on it and let them know what you want.
